FAQ

  • Some jurisdictions require a building permit, while others do not. Please check with your local building department to see what is required in your area.

This may also depend on the whether the container home will be built on a permanent foundation like a traditional home or will it be placed on temporary supports like a mobile home.

The A8 container home we built is in a mobile home park and only required final inspection to hook-up utilities.

  • Our drawings are not sealed by an architect or an engineer.

If your municipality requires an engineer’s seal for approval, it will need to be done locally.

For this reason, we offer CAD files. Your local design professionals can modify the design and supplement the drawings as needed to meet your local permitting requirements.

  • We are happy to modify the drawings for an additional fee.

This service is offered for modifications to the A8 Container design such as, resizing the spaces, changing room orientations, modifying the kitchen design, adding windows, etc.

If you are looking for a design using multiple containers, please contact us.

Heating and cooling needs are different by region so it is best to work with local professionals in your area to determine the appropriate mechanical systems for your site.

  • The A8 container home we built is placed on a temporary foundation using railroad ties. We went with a temporary foundation because the home is currently located in a mobile home park.

If you are planning to build your container home on a permanent foundation, you will need to consult with an engineer for a foundation design that is appropriate for your region and soil type.
